The Rider Waite version shows a bull, an angel, a lion and an eagle – which represent the four creatures from Ezekiel, Yod-Heh-Vau-Heh (the qabalistic name of God), the archangels Michael, Gabriel, Uriel and Raphael, the fixed signs of the zodiac (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius), and the four elements (earth, air, fire and water). That's a lot to take in, but at it's core the message here is pretty simple.
Time is circular. The patterns of nature propel us forward in spiral waves. The sun rises and sets, the moon waxes and wanes, the seasons move from spring to summer, from fall to winter, we're born and we die, the aeons change with the stars, the galaxy spirals onward in it's own large scale cycle. This card is a reminder that everything changes. In our lifetime, we find circular patterns as well, when rejected lessons from our past come back around for another painful go. Our karmic consequences from past choices find their way into our life to tell us we can't get away that easily. The gravitational force of ebb and flow keep us moving back and forth, letting us know that if we pay attention to the cycles and patterns of time and nature – we can also discover the patterns and cycles within our own lives.
Understanding when and how the circle comes back around again, gives us an opportunity for second chances. Knowing how the cogs combine in the clockwork of our life can alert us to negative patterns and point us in a more positive direction in the future. Listening to messages of synchronicity can bring us closer to our calling, our gifts and desires. The Universe is trying to get your attention. Are you going through something currently that you have faced multiple times in your past? Is there a lesson that needs to be learned, and despite being shown over and over again, you are repeating the same mistakes? Pay attention to your own seasons and spirals, so you can get off the hamster wheel and move forward rather than jogging in place.
Was it reversed?
